About us

El Jardín (Montessori Chacala) is a Non-profit School & Scholarship Program for the Community of Chacala, Mexico. Founded in 2013 by Mar de Jade Community Projects, it became the first independent non-profit school to offer quality education for low-income kids in our community. Currently nearly 80% of children in Chacala are benefiting from our Preschool and Primary Program.

Our Mission

El Jardín exists to share a non-profit and quality education for every child in our community. Our purpose is to create a school that fosters creativity, promotes high academic quality, nurtures human relationships & inspires a growing passion for learning.

Balanced Education Model

El Jardín, at its founding, set out to re-imagine education for children in our community. As the world develops at a greatly accelerated pace, our primary purpose is to combine the best educational practices with the most current innovative approaches of learning. A guiding question we always consider is, “What is the best way for us, as a school, to prepare our students for their present and for an unknown future?, What is the main purpose of Education?

At El Jardín we are inspired by Waldorf and Montessori pedagogy, and we have developed an approach to education that balances academic mastery, self and social intelligence and creative thinking. We believe equilibrium among these three pillars is needed in education to help children develop to their fullest potential.
